What is the benefit of the MLD-Technologie?

The MLD-Technology ensures that the module surface is consistently accurately directed towards the sun on sunny days. On cloudy days, the DEGERconecter tracks to the point with the strongest overall radiation. In this fashion, one achieves a substantially higher yield that with astronomically guided systems, which do not react to actual weather conditions. The advantage is even better in regions with more diffuse light conditions.

Which module types can be mounted on a DEGERtraker?

In virtue of the flexible adjustment of the carrier frame, all current PV modules can be mounted on DEGERtrakers.

How many solar modules fit on a DEGERtraker?

You can find a calculation for an exemplary number of current solar modules on the "Module Population" data sheet, which can be obtained from GEGERenergie. You can do the calculations using a 10% tolerance to obtain a preliminary calculation. Please not that the maximum number of modules can be limited by regional wind load stressing. DEGERenergie offers the Planning Tool for detailed calculations.

Are there technical drawings showing module layouts?

DEGERenergy can support you with existing exemplary drawings. You will receive detailed information on your module type/your configuration when you place your order.

How large do the gaps need to be between individual tracking systems?

As with rigid systmes, the spacing must be such as to prevent the units from shading themselves. The spacing is determined substantially by the latitude, because here the degree of possible shading differs in intensity. You can obtain related planning documentation on request.

Maximum wind speed/structural analysis of the DEGERtraker?

Degertrakers are statically calculated and dimensioned in accordance with German norms for a wind pressure of 0.50 kN/m² (130 km/h) for TOPtraker modules and 1.35 kN/m² (170 km/h) for HD models. The systems are designed in accordance with DIN 1055-4 (3/2005). With higher wind load stressing, the systems can be adapted by reducing the module surface.

What is a wind monitor and when is it required?

The wind monitor positions the module surface in the safe horizontal position when the wind speed exceeds 10 m/sec; this ensurs tht the safe position is assumed in time before the storm occurs. The wind monitor is included in the CCB (Central Control Box) scope of supply.

Why doesn't the TOPtraker need a wind monitor?

No wind monitor is required for the TOPtraker because its structure has been designed so that it is storm-safe in any position. (e.g. up to a maximum 45° in the East-West direciton). In stormy weather it is normally cloudy and this would put the TOPtraker in the safest middle position anyway.

Why do I need an irradiation sensor?

The optional irradiation sensor places the solar surface in a horizontal position if a set irradiation threshold is not reached, in order to prevent theft of the solar modules. In addition, the irradiation sensor produces a uniform optics in diffuse light.

How is the DEGERtraker protected against over-rotation?

All DEGERtrakers have factory-installed double protection using electrical limit switches for stopping the motors and, in addition, have a mechanical end stop, should the module surface be moved during a storm.

What foundations does the DEGERtraker require?

The foundation work for the DEGERtraker is provided by using round or square concrete foundations. The size of the foundation work depends on the system used and the mast length employed. The foundation work can be optionally above-ground or in-ground, where in the case of in-ground foundations, a longer mast is needed, in order to allow the required ground clearance. A framing and reinforcement plan can be provided for each foundation.

Can ground anchors be used instead of foundations?

Ground dowels can be used only if the manufacturer has provided corresponding calculations for them.

Which system is suitable for industrial flat roofs?

The single-axis TOPtracker and all HD models are suitable for installation on flat rooves.
