DEGERENERGIE RENDERS ENERGY CUSTOMERS INDEPENDENT OF THE GRID

End-to-end system for self-supply celebrates its world premiere

As of now, DEGERenergie is offering end-to-end solar energy supply systems for end consumers – stable electricity prices for 25 years on today’s level

Horb a.N., May 10th, 2012. The sensation is perfect:DEGERenergie renders energy customers independent of the public grid. The global market leader for solar tracking systems from Germany combines in its end-to-end system the tried and tested MLD technology with a storage solution including a battery management system suitable for everyday use. The innovative DEGERenergie end-to-end solution celebrates its world premiere in Munich on the occasion of Intersolar Europe 2012. For the first step, DEGERenergie offers its solution in Germany only.

More than one year after Fukushima, DEGERenergie gives a decisive incentive for the energy turnaround from the end customer side. “If you are really interested in green energy, you should not wait until the large energy suppliers and politicians have finally reached a conclusion that will first of all serve the interests of the industry and lead to higher electricity prices,” explains Artur Deger, founder and CEO of DEGERenergie.

Reason enough for the Swabian inventor with keen sense of economic efficiency and feasibility to develop a system capable of supplying an entire family home with electricity for one year and creating a surplus at the same time. And the conditions are surprisingly favorable. The system’s prototype has been working without problem since fall 2011. On the occasion of the Intersolar Europe, DEGERenergie presents a market-ready solution that can be ordered as of now. The first systems will be shipped by DEGERenergie in September.

Brilliantly simple

Like many brilliant ideas, this one is really simple: The system combines high-performance solar modules with DEGERenergie MLD tracking technology and a storage and battery management system. For storage solutions, DEGERenergie has coined the term MSS, “Maximum Solarpower Storage”. By combining MLD and MSS, around 6000 kilowatt hours can be generated each year in Germany on a collector surface of not more than 22 m².

“Thanks to our MLD tracking system, which always guarantees optimum energy yield from the current light conditions, we can generate about 45 per cent more energy than fixed solar modules, regardless of the location. Therefore, DEGERenergie‘s solution requires less surface space for modules.”

MLD technology a perfect fit

Another advantage is the balanced load profile: MLD systems evenly generate electricity over the entire day, in contrast to fixed systems that peak around noon, but yield less in the morning and in the afternoon. This means: In the morning and in the evening, when normal households have consumption peaks, fixed systems usually provide less electricity than consumed. MLD systems, however, provide sufficient solar energy for direct consumption without the need for batteries at all times.

In addition, batteries that serve as energy buffers can be recharged much more gentle with even loads than with voltage peaks. For this reason, the system needs less or smaller batteries with longer service lives. As a rule of thumb: MLD tracking technology saves around 30 percent battery capacity. “All these aspects have a positive effect on the economic efficiency”, says Artur Deger.

Maintenance and service included

And this is a sensation: The fully functional end-to-end system including installation costs around 25,000 Euros. “Based on this, our customers can estimate their electricity price for the next 25 years on today´s level”, demonstrates DEGERenergie’s CEO. “Plus, they make themselves independent from energy suppliers and – with every price increase they save more money from year to year.” This calculation includes all costs: The system itself, financing, maintenance and servicing in an “all-inclusive” package.

DEGERenergie offers the “care-free” package for the duration of 25 years. “With this package, we take responsibility for the all-round maintenance of the system and make sure that it works perfectly for 25 years, including costs for spare parts.” The innovative DEGERenergie end-to-end solution will be available in Germany starting September 2012.

DEGERenergie is the global market leader for solar tracking systems. Worldwide, more than 47,000 DEGERenergie systems are installed in 46 countries. The company is represented in Spain, Greece and North America with its own subsidiaries and cooperates with local distribution and service partners in many countries worldwide. The patented DEGERenergie Maximum Light Detection (MLD) technology makes it possible to improve the energy yield of solar power plants by an average of 45 percent compared to fixed systems.

About DEGERenergie:

DEGERenergie is the leading manufacturer with the world’s largest product range of single and dual-axis solar tracking systems. The company’s market position is based on the unique patented Maximum Light Detection (MLD) technology developed by Artur Deger, which makes it possible to maximize the yield of solar power plants with an “intelligent” control. With the DEGERconecter, the solar modules are always aligned according to the brightest position in the sky with the highest energy yield. This way, the overall energy yield of solar power plants with MLD tracking is on average 45 percent higher than that of fixed systems and this difference is even more pronounced for peaks. With more than 47,000 systems installed in 46 countries, DEGERenergie is the global technological market leader. The company offers its customers all product related solutions – from the development and planning, production and sales to maintenance and service.

In its headquarters in Horb (Germany), its subsidiaries and supplier companies, DEGERenergie is currently employing a staff of nearly 400. The company was established in 1999 and in 2001 won the Inventor Award of the German state of Baden-Württemberg for the MLD control module DEGERconecter. In 2005, DEGERenergie opened its first subsidiary in Spain, followed by subsidiaries in the USA and Greece in 2009. Since summer 2011, production is also up and running in Australia. The company’s production sites are located in Germany, Australia, Canada and the USA. CEO is Artur Deger.

You can’t always rely on the weather. But you can rely on an intelligent control system from DEGERenergie.
